DownRiver Design Company is proud to have Chris Taylor, owner of
Fisheads of the San Juan River Lodge,
as the Pro representing our company. He was the 2008 Orvis endorsed guide service of the year, and has just opened the new lodge in Navajo Dam on the San Jaun. Thank you Chris we appreciate your input and faith in this company. After spending 232 days last year on the river rowing one of Dave's boats, Chris has this to say about his newest boat, aptly named the San Juan Skiff...
"I wanted to thank you for delivering my new skiff last week. I have been on trips in the new boat almost every day and as usual you have blown me away with one of your boats! The boat has everything my customers and I need for a day on the river. I really appreciate how thought out everything is and accessible they are to use but when it comes right down to it, what is truly amazing about your boat is how it performs in the water. It literally seems to defy the laws of hydraulics! The boat moves with half the effort it takes to move any other boat I have ever rowed. I was out in the wind yesterday, it was blowing around 40 miles an hour. While everyone else was struggling just to get off the river I was pulling drifts and catching fish! I'm not saying that I wasn't working but the simple fact that I could do it was cool. The most impressive part is how well your design for the bottom of the boat works! Whether holding in fast water, rowing through dead water or moving from fast to eddying water the boat performs more like it is hovering above the water rather than in it! It is completely amazing! I think everyone I know will be rowing one of your boats, they would be crazy to row anything else!"
